It's Been Fun, June!

Saturday, July 15, 2017

We were so busy in June, we didn't take time to update the blog. So here's a look back at what we were up to last month.

First up, Saturday June 10th, was one of our favorite Springfield MO area festivals, Pickin' in the Park at Walnut Grove, MO.

Later that afternoon, we were in Billings, MO for a show in the barn at Mooneyham Junction where the Mooneyham family has hosted Bluegrass & Country Music shows since the 1960's.

We send our thanks to Ron's wife, Mary Pennington, for these photos. Thanks also to Eric Coones from Brightwater Junction for the following videos from last night's show:

You'll Get No More of Me

and Colder and Colder.

Later in June, we returned to Chillicothe, MO for the city's annual Sliced Bread Jam Bluegrass Festival. We have played this festival before and are always pleased to be asked back.

In addition to our stage shows that weekend, Saturday morning before the festival, we participated in a Bluegrass jam at the farmer's market in downtown Chillcothe. Here are Rob, Ron, and David along with Emalee Flatness and many of our friends from other Missouri bands with Dark HollowThank you for sharing this, Rob and Renee Flatness!

Coming up Saturday, July 29th, we'll be in Lebanon, MO for the New Horizon's Gospel Spectacular 2017! Check back in a couple weeks for more information. We hope you'll make plans to attend!

Bluegrass Karaoke at GOBS

Friday, July 14, 2017

Lonesome Road, with our friend Andrew Morton from Casey and the Atta Boys, backed up performers last night at the Greater Ozarks Bluegrass Society's Bluegrass Karaoke. Many musicians participated including our longtime friend, Andy Dye, who sang Today Has Been a Lonesome Day.

We also enjoyed accompanying singer and guitarist, Jim Curl, on Amie

Here's another from last night: Kelly Freeland, also with Casey and the Atta Boys, singing Blue-Eyed Boston Boy

If you are not familiar with the Greater Ozarks Bluegrass Society, it is a Springfield, MO-based non-profit promoting Bluegrass music in the Ozarks. Meetings are the 2nd Friday night of every month at River Bluff Church in Ozark, MO. Everyone is welcome to attend. If you are a musician, or you simply enjoy listening to Bluegrass, we hope you will consider attending a meeting or joining GOBS.

Bluegrass & BBQ

May 14, 2017

Thursday and Friday, May 4-5th, we played at Silver Dollar City's Bluegrass & BBQ Festival. We met had a great time, as we always do.

In addition, we played at Red Gold Hall this year, which also hosted a delicious BBQ buffet. This means, yes, savoring the smell of BBQ all day long. It was a hard job, but we were more than happy to do it.

Thank you, DA Callaway and Silver Dollar City for inviting us back this year. The Bluegrass & BBQ Festival runs through May 29th with lots of incredible musicians scheduled to play. We hope you'll make plans to visit this month. It's a great time to be in the Ozarks, especially for Bluegrass fans!
